Long before Kalthappam had a name, Malabar was shaped by rice.
Families woke up to the scrape of grinding stones turning soaked rice into smooth batter. Simple rice cakes cooked slowly, no ghee, no jaggery. Just rice, water, and patience. what quietly became tradition, turned to something special and our own.
As centuries passed,
The plain rice cake changed.
It grew softer, richer, flavourful...
waiting to be enjoyed.
But as life happened, Kalthappam was long forgotten - it became a distant memory,
a yearning for the familiar.
